Dawnsentry Self-hosted: licence terms
Last updated 3 November 2026. These terms apply between you (the organisation named in the licence) and Dawnsentry, Denmark (CVR 30093186), for Dawnsentry Self-hosted. The hosted service at app.dawnsentry.com has its own terms of service. Questions: info@dawnsentry.com.
What you may do
- Install and run the Dawnsentry Self-hosted container images on systems you control, for your own organisation.
- Track up to the number of items, and run up to the number of organisations, that your licence file states, for as long as the subscription runs.
- Make the copies you need for operation, testing, backup and disaster recovery.
The licence is non-exclusive and can't be transferred without our written consent. An evaluation licence is for trying the software and runs for the period it states; don't rely on it in production.
What you may not do
- Pass the images, the registry credentials or the licence file to anyone outside your organisation, apart from contractors who run the installation for you.
- Offer Dawnsentry as a service to other companies, unless we've agreed that in writing.
- Get around the licence check, the item or organisation limits, or the signatures, or decompile the software, except where the law expressly allows it.
Delivery and updates
You get the software as signed container images from our registry, or as a signed archive for networks without registry access. You also get an installation kit and guide. New versions are available while the subscription runs, and you decide when to install them. A version released after your licence's update period ends won't start; the version you already run keeps working.
Support
Support by e-mail on Danish business days is included: help with installation and settings, and with faults in the software. Your servers, operating system, Docker, network and directory are yours to run. Installation help beyond that can be bought separately.
Your responsibilities
- Running the installation: capacity, security updates for the host, access control and monitoring.
- Backups of the database and of the configuration file, which holds the encryption key. Without it, stored secrets can't be recovered, and we can't recover them either.
- Running the collector and the core on the same version.
Your data
Your inventory, users, findings and settings stay on your servers. Dawnsentry has no access to them and doesn't process them. The software doesn't report usage to us; the licence is checked locally. If you send us data in a support case, we use it only for that case and delete it afterwards.
Vulnerability data
The collector, or a single installation with internet access, fetches public sources: vendor advisories, CVE.org, the NVD, CISA, FIRST (EPSS), exploit projects, MITRE ATT&CK, endoflife.date and security news sites. These sources can be late, incomplete or wrong, and their own terms apply. Dawnsentry helps you prioritise; it doesn't replace your own judgement or your vendors' advisories.
Fees and payment
- The subscription is invoiced yearly in advance, in euro, excluding VAT, which is added where it applies. Invoices are due within 30 days.
- We give at least 60 days' notice before a price change, which takes effect at your next renewal.
- If an invoice is still unpaid 30 days after a reminder, we may close your registry access and not issue a renewed licence until it's paid.
Term, renewal and cancellation
A subscription runs for 12 months from its start date. It renews for 12 months at a time unless either side cancels by e-mail at least 30 days before the end. Either side may end it straight away if the other seriously breaches these terms and hasn't put it right within 30 days of being told.
When the subscription ends
The licence has 14 days' grace after its end date. After that, the software stops loading new vulnerability data and shows a warning, and registry access ends. You may keep the installation running to read and export your data; using it for new work needs a renewed licence. Fees already paid aren't refunded, except as described under "If something doesn't work".
If something doesn't work
The software should work as the installation guide describes. If it doesn't, tell us and we'll fix it within a reasonable time. If we can't, you may cancel and get back the fees you paid for the rest of the period. Beyond that, the software is provided as it is.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, each side's total liability for any claim is limited to the fees paid for the 12 months before the claim arose. Neither side is liable for indirect losses such as lost profit, lost data or business interruption. Nothing here limits liability for gross negligence, intent, or anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited.
Confidentiality
Each side keeps the other's non-public information confidential, including licence files, registry credentials, prices you've been offered and anything shared in support cases.
Changes to these terms
We'll give at least 60 days' notice by e-mail of changes. They take effect at your next renewal; until then, the terms you signed up under apply.
Law
These terms are governed by Danish law. Disputes go to the Danish courts, with Copenhagen City Court as the first instance.
